Kesup Forest
Just past the highland town of Iten, where runners chase the sky and clouds hug the cliffs, a quiet revolution is taking root along the Kesup escarpment.

Kesup sits on the Elgeyo escarpment above the Kerio Valley — a wall of forest that, when intact, catches highland rain before it ever reaches the valley floor. Decades of charcoal cutting and unfenced grazing had pushed the tree line back and left several springs running thin by August.
Since work began here, community nursery groups have raised indigenous seedlings — podo, African olive, elgon teak — for both boundary planting on member farms and direct replanting on degraded escarpment blocks. Youth forest scouts patrol the fence lines and log encroachment weekly.
The forest is speaking — and Kesup is calling you home.
