The Inaugural ICCCER-24 Conference by The Restoration Alliance
We are excited to share the incredible success of our first-ever International Conference on Climate Change and Ecosystem Restoration (ICCCER-24), which took place over two inspiring days at the University of Eldoret! This milestone event brought together passionate individuals, organisations, and change makers, all united by a common mission to breathe new life into the landscapes and ecosystems of the Great Rift Valley. The conference was hosted by The Restoration Alliance whose partner members are Save Kenya Water Towers, Scope intervention, and Eco Smart Africa Foundation.
A big thank you to the University of Eldoret’s Department of Planning, Research, and Partnerships for their generous support in hosting this event. Your partnership was crucial in making this vision a reality, and we’re truly grateful.
The conference was a wonderful opportunity to engage with our amazing partners, including Maliasili, CIFOR-ICRAF, WRI, OneTree Planted, TerraFund for AFR 100, Laikipia Wildlife Forum, Absa Bank, Eldoret Water and Sanitation Company (ELDOWAS), Kenya Water Towers Agency, The Nature Conservancy, Uasin Gishu County government, Elgeyo Marakwet County government, PROCOL Africa, COSEO (Community Socio-environmental Organisation), WWF, Ambassador Bitok Foundation, CFA-Sabor, Hug a Cedar Foundation and EZSAKS Agri Business start up association. Working alongside these incredible organisations has been a privilege, and their insights are helping us to build stronger and more climate resilient communities.
Looking ahead, we are energised to turn the enthusiasm and ideas sparked during the conference into real world action. Our focus will be on advancing climate resilience, promoting indigenous knowledge in ecosystem restoration, and collaborating with partners and local governments to drive meaningful policy changes.
This event not only deepened our understanding of the climate challenges in the Great Rift Valley but also strengthened our resolve to protect and restore our vital water towers. We’re inspired to continue this important work and can’t wait to see what’s next.
Thank you for your unwavering support as we work together to create lasting environmental change. With all of us united, we truly can make a meaningful impact on the landscapes and communities that depend on them.
Stay tuned for more updates!
With gratitude,
The Save Kenya Water Towers Team
